It is always nice to see colleagues in person. I have shared the Lule? office with part of the Swedish Mining team today. This was my today's view from the most northern office of Geosyntec Consultants. #OneGeosyntec #mining #gruv #teamwork #swedishminingteam

The most rewarding part of being a water resource engineer captured in one photo. Congratulations to the Geosyntec Consultants Orlando team for leading the major flood mitigation project that is alleviating flooding in the Orlo Vista neighborhood. A huge shoutout to Orange County's Public Works team for working tirelessly to monitor conditions before, during, and after the storm, ensuring systems remained operational throughout Hurricane Milton. Your hard work and dedication are truly making a difference! More information: https://lnkd.in/dKjkC73n

I am very excited to share the recent publication of the "Geologic map of Mill Bluff State Park, Monroe and Juneau counties, Wisconsin"! ??? This map and report were created as a part of the 2023 Geologic Mapping Internship hosted by the Wisconsin Geological & Natural History Survey and funded in part by the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG). As the 2023 intern, I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in research investigating the preferred orientation of Mill Bluff State Park's sandstone bluffs and the orientation of fracturing within these bluffs. In addition, this project explores the geographic and lithologic influences affecting the existence of the bluffs within the park and the existence of similar bluffs within the extent of the Glacial Lake Wisconsin basin. Special thanks to #WGNHS bedrock geologist Eric Stewart and #WGNHS geoscientist Sarah Bremmer for their continued collaboration and guidance throughout this process! In addition, a big thank you to the entire staff at the Wisconsin Geological & Natural History Survey for their support! I invite you to check out the map and supplemental report, both of which can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/gFCrKi9B #GIS #Mapping #WGNHSResearch

I’m excited to announce that I got invited to give a seminar on “Novel Tools for Understanding Mercury Cycling in Aquatic Ecosystems: From Academia to Environmental Consulting” at the University of Minnesota. I’ll be discussing the complexities of mercury biogeochemistry and highlighting innovative research tools like mercury stable isotope ratio measurements and equilibrium passive samplers. Please join me on Monday, October 28th at 4 PM CDT?(or online at https://lnkd.in/gUfvfPvN) to learn more about these cutting-edge approaches and their applications in environmental health. It is not too late to register to the Sacramento Branch of GRA: Groundwater Resources Association of California presentation of Environmental Sequence Stratigraphy (ESS): Geology-Focused Conceptual Site Models As A Best Practice For Groundwater And Geotechnical Projects by Rick Cramer, PG of Geosyntec Consultants Tuesday October 15th at 5:30 pm https://lnkd.in/gsbDdeHf
The Sacramento Branch of GRA: Groundwater Resources Association of California presents: Environmental Sequence Stratigraphy (ESS): Geology-Focused Conceptual Site Models as a Best Practice for Groundwater and Geotechnical Projects by Rick Cramer, PG of Geosyntec Consultants Tuesday October 15 at 5:30pm at Aviators Restaurant- Sacramento Executive Airport The most challenging element of any groundwater and geotechnical project is the uncertainty of the subsurface. The complexity of the subsurface has confounded the progress, delayed remediation goals, and caused project-budget overruns for many remediation efforts at contaminated-soil and groundwater sites worldwide. In 2022, the Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC) conducted an enterprise-wide evaluation of the elements that affect remediation successes and concluded that the Conceptual Site Model (CSM) overwhelmingly has the greatest impact on the restoration effort. Geology-focused CSMs (applying concepts of ESS) have proven to be a best practice for resolving the challenges of geologic heterogeneity. This best practice was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in their 2017 Groundwater Technical Issue Paper. This geology-focused approach applies not only to environmental-restoration projects but is also relevant and beneficial to groundwater resources/sustainable groundwater management and geotechnical projects.
