#DidYouKnow - Geosetta has attended this event in the past as an exhibitor. We also had the opportunity to provide a presentation on who we are, how to use our technology, and how beneficial using Geosetta can be. Geotechnical groups like GeoVirginia provide platforms to showcase new and innovative ways of solving problems. Thanks to Virginia Geo-Institute Chapter of ASCE for working hard by providing opportunities to share their work in the geotechnical field. Everyone can benefit from #LessonsLearned. ?? For those of you who are new here, Geosetta is a non-profit Maryland based organization that provides free public tools that can be used anytime (and anywhere) for preliminary subsurface exploration planning. Data donations increase the accuracy of our ML techniques, which is rapidly growing every day. ?? Just a little update on our data donations… NCDOT was our most recent data ?? acquisition! We currently have over 350,000 data donations (and still growing!). Data increases the accuracy of our machine learning technology, so basically we wouldn’t be here without data. Thank you ?? to all those who have donated thus far! ?? What does it mean to be a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and how did Geosetta obtain this status? According to the IRS, no part of earnings/donations may be used to benefit a private shareholder or individual and the organization cannot influence any legislation or participate in any political activities. Commonly referred to as a “charitable organization,” this type of non-profit designation allows tax deductible contributions (Code section 170). There is a step by step application process that we followed to obtain 501(c)(3) status (see the IRS website). It did take a bit of time, but it was the right decision for us. Geosetta was created for everyone to use and benefit from free public subsurface information. Soil and rocks are for everyone!! Please keep in mind that any and all donations to Geosetta are tax deductible. ??
