?? We have some big news at Geosetta! ?? We're excited to welcome Sushant Upadhyaya, PhD, PE, DGE, PMP, RMP to our Board of Directors as our new Secretary! Sushant brings years of experience leading geotechnical design and finding smart solutions to complex problems. His leadership will help us keep pushing forward on Geosetta’s mission—building a shared, open resource of subsurface data and creating tools that save engineers time and money. At the same time, we're incredibly grateful to Qamar Kazmi, who has served as our Secretary since day one. In fact, it was Qamar's idea for Geosetta to become a non-profit, ensuring we stay focused on collaboration and serving the geotechnical community. His vision and dedication have been at the heart of everything we’ve built. Geosetta is entirely volunteer-driven, and we couldn't do what we do without people like Qamar and Sushant who give their time to support our profession. #DidYouKnow - Geosetta can help with emergency projects! Here is an excellent example of an emergency project in southern Maryland. An underground SWM facility has failed and caused a portion of the asphalt pavement above it to collapse. This is located within a business parking lot, and is impacting parking lot access. The county has deemed this an emergency situation and must be analyzed (by means of soil borings, test pits, and infiltration testing) and repaired as soon as possible. Geosetta can help with these types of projects. Before you perform your site visit and while your utility ticket is in the process of clearing, find out what you might encounter so you have a general idea of what to expect. Historic data and subsurface soil predictions can be determined in just a few clicks of a button. Remember, using Geosetta is FREE and open to the public, as we are a non-profit organization.
