Effective and efficient groundwater use is a bit more complicated than just sinking a well in a likely spot. More than 90% of the world's fresh water is underground, and across the Southwest groundwater accounts for about 50% of the water supply for?household use, agriculture, irrigation, manufacturing, food production, power generation, and more.??? This is why we spend every day working on new ways to capture, store, and access groundwater to ensure a safe, reliable supply. Persistent drought across the Southwest reinforces the need for accurate #groundwater basin modeling to enable conjunctive use projects, aquifer recharge, and effective water production. Geoscience Support Services, Inc.'s long history (all the way back to 1978) started in the Southwest during another time of significant drought. ??? Today, we have teams in both #Arizona and #California we're still delivering innovative groundwater solutions for municipal, public, and commercial clients. ??

Did you know "jargon" has more than one definition? The first explains jargon is "vocabulary specific to a particular profession or trade." The second, more common, definition calls jargon "unintelligible or meaningless" words. Ouch. Jargon of all kinds is everywhere. A lot actually fits into the first definition, but we've all encountered a group that's developed a few too many insider acronyms. To people outside a specialization or industry, it's all meaningless jargon. Geoscience Support Services, Inc.'s field, #groundwater services, spans multiple scientific and technical fields, and intersects with public and private institutions, all with their own particular words and terms used to precisely communicate specific, important things and concepts. ?? What we're saying is we encounter and use a lot of jargon. But we don't want to be unintelligible, so we asked our team to contribute terms they use in their daily roles and shared the list our site so everyone can understand what we're talking about.
