Voices for Georgia’s Children (Voices) is an independent, non-partisan, information clearinghouse and coalition builder. We promote pragmatic policies that recognize that children’s needs are interconnected and best met holistically. For example, the full benefits of a quality education are realized only when a child has adequate nutrition, healthcare, a stable home, and is treated fairly. Addressing one area, while neglecting the others, yields marginal improvements in the wellbeing of children. Voices champions the “whole child” approach and is leading a movement of public and private stakeholders to catalyze systemic change on behalf of Georgia’s children.

We were excited to present at the Youth Justice Convening in Macon this week! Policy analysts Lesley Kelley and Joe Vignati spent the last year studying the juvenile justice landscape and presented select racial and ethnic disparities as part of a panel discussion on what that system looks like here in Georgia and across the country. You can read their entire report later this year when we release “Punishment to Potential: A Landscape Analysis of Georgia’s Juvenile Justice System."
