关于我们
Georgia First is a 501c4 organization committed to preserving and growing the strength and welfare of our state, her people, and our collective future. We are committed to advancing the lives of Georgians by advocating for strong fiscal policies that create a robust middle class, expanding healthcare access and affordability, and standing as a voice above the fray to democracy and elections. We take a sleeves-up approach in working with our state legislators on these issues – being present at the Capitol, weighing in as a resource, and speaking out as a voice of reason and accountability.

A new article by Becker's Healthcare Hospital Review, featuring the results from a The Commonwealth Fund brief, projects 286,000 US jobs would be lost, if Congress allows the Affordable Care Act healthcare federal tax credits (AKA EPTCs, Enhanced Premium Tax Credits) to expire this year. Georgia would have the 3rd highest job losses with 12,400 healthcare jobs lost and a 28,400 total jobs lost, behind Texas (1) and Florida (2). This comes when our state already has an increased demand for healthcare workers. The healthcare and economic impact of these credits expiring are significant. We encourage everyone to consider contacting their Congressmen/women and Senators today. #PeopleOverPolitics #HealthCare #BRIDGEga

This year's theme is "Create & Celebrate a Nation of Diverse Readers." Thank you to all those educators who work tirelessly for early literacy! We hope you take time to engage your young readers at home today and every day. #ReadAcrossAmericaDay #ReadAcrossAmerica #DrSeuss #ReadAcrossAmericaDay2025

We're celebrating National Black History Month & the 2025 focus on "work" of all kinds by recognizing Georgians whose work aligns with our core values and/or policy areas. Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, a Georgia native from Macon and a Georgia Institute of Technology graduate, is an accomplished physician completing her medical degree at Harvard Medical School. In 2014, she was the first woman selected to lead Georgia's prestigious Morehouse School of Medicine---and the first black woman in the United States to be named to lead a freestanding medical school. She has an impressive career, holding several high-profile positions and receiving numerous accolades and honors. Today, we celebrate this amazing Georgian and her unique contributions to her home state, and our shared passion for healthcare access! One of Georgia First's three key focus areas is healthcare, specifically advancing access to quality, affordable healthcare for more Georgians, particularly those who fall in the healthcare coverage gap. Read more about her story in this 2020 Garden & Gun Magazine, LLC feature. #BlackHistoryMonth2025 #BlackHistoryMonthCelebration #BlackHistoryMonth #HealthcareCoverage #HealthcareAccess #BRIDGEga
