Roundup of some notable events at IBB this week! ?? -As part of IBB's Core Facilities Educational Seminar series, our Molecular Evolution Core hosted biotech company 10x Genomics, whose innovative single cell, spatial, and in situ technologies have enabled discoveries across oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and more. -A group of dedicated BBUGS volunteers have been mentoring a middle school science class at Centennial Academy, part of Atlanta Public Schools. The students were exposed to the field of biomedical engineering, designing implant prototypes for a broken femur bone. -IBB's Center for Immunoengineering hosted an Industry Symposium today! Titled "Tuning the Immune Response with Advanced Therapeutics", we've had six fantastic speakers today from industry and academia. IBB held its annual External Advisory Board (EAB) meeting on Tuesday, bringing together board members both in person and remotely for a productive and engaging day. IBB's executive director Andres Garcia provided an institute update and overview, followed by reports on IBB's outreach initiatives and our commercialization ecosystem. We heard fascinating presentations from the directors of IBB's Cancer Technologies Innovation Center?(CTIC) and Immunoengineering Center, along with a working lunch and breakout groups to discuss IBB's philanthropic efforts and industry engagement. After a report on the breakout groups, the the board held an executive session and discussion and concluded with a report back to the EVPR and IBB's leadership.
