Bill Todd, Professor of the Practice at the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, has created the Grady Emergency Medical Technician Scholarship for current and aspiring emergency medical technician students at Georgia Tech. The scholarship is inspired by his personal experiences with EMTs and?Lianna Homrich, a pre-med Biology student in his Management in the Healthcare Sector class. Like many Georgia Tech professors, Bill spends time after class talking to his students about their career aspirations. One day, while talking to Lianna about Grady Memorial Hospital, he learned that she is an EMT with Central EMS?and a member of?EMS at Tech, a student organization dedicated to expanding access to and knowledge of emergency medical services at Georgia Tech. The EMS at Tech club piqued Bill's interest, and he immediately saw a gap he wanted to fill. The organization, coupled with his experience being transported by Grady ambulances three times in 18 months, sparked the idea to create the scholarship. Launching new careers is just one of Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute's Advanced Manufacturing Pilot Facility's goals in testing new manufacturing and growing the future U.S. workforce. Since 2022, AMPF has improved the manufacturing process at all parts of the talent pipeline?— from giving corporate researchers space to test and adopt AI automation technologies to training and upskilling their employees. Collectively, GTMI and AMPF’s efforts have led to a stronger, bigger network of manufacturers that other companies and the U.S. government can rely on. “We are going to need to manufacture more in the U.S. — from computer chips to cars — so we want to create jobs and fill them. We need more people working in the manufacturing sector, and we've got to make these jobs better and make people more efficient in them.”?–Thomas Kurfess

Scheduled for completion in 2026, the Tech Square Phase 3 construction continues to progress. The project features the 14-story Scheller Tower and the 18-story George Tower. A shared elevator connects the two buildings, which together encompass 416,500 square feet and includes a large outdoor plaza for street-level retail. The towers will house the Scheller College of Business graduate and executive programs and the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. They will give students unprecedented access to corporate innovation centers, incubators, and accelerators and provide opportunities to engage with business partners. ???? | c.gatech.edu/4aKI9pX #WeCanDoThat
