They held a discussion about the unique value of GA Financial Advisors, focusing on how they provide comprehensive financial planning for individuals and households on a day to day basis. On Wednesday, the Finance Association hosted LTG Leslie C. Smith, Lieutenant General, US Army retired, who serves as the W.E. Carter Chair of Leadership for the Parker College of Business. LTG Smith connected with FA students in an interactive presentation. He discussed the qualities of a leader, detailing how his experiences in the US Army and as a Georgia Southern Alumni gave him the experience, skills, and knowledge to be an effective leader. FA students enjoyed this engaging guest speaker event and look forward to utilizing the skills and knowledge LTG Smith showcased. We are grateful for LTG Smith’s time and expertise. On Wednesday night, the Finance Association held a student-led intern panel. FA members got to hear from fellow Georgia Southern FA students about their summer internship experiences.? The student panel discussed recruiting, interviewing, how to stand out as an intern, and their experiences in various types of internships in different areas of finance. The panel detailed their unique experiences and led an engaging discussion with other FA members. On Wednesday night, the Finance Association held its fourth guest speaker event of the semester. The FA hosted Georgia Southern Alumni Nathan O'Rielly and Drew Channel. The alumni work for Your Home Sold Guaranteed Realty, Your Home Loan Group (NEXA), and Your Home and Auto (Goosehead Insurance Agency). Mr. O’Reilly and Mr. Channel discussed the world of entrepreneurship, self employment career opportunities, and the importance of networking in a successful career. Through their three segments, they encouraged FA members to take advantage of their coaching programs and certifications in real estate and mortgage loan origination. The FA hosted a panel of finance focused professionals from the Georgia Southern Young Alumni Board, including David Attaway, Johnathan L. Manning, MBA, Trent Doty, CFP?, CDFA?, and Hannah Steed. FA students took this opportunity to hear from the Board about their careers, various opportunities in finance, and how to stand out as a job applicant.
