When should hospice be considered? Myth: Hospice is only for the last few days of life. Fact: Hospice care focuses on comfort care when the patient’s life expectancy is six months or less. When a patient is appropriate for hospice care, the sooner the benefit is elected the more opportunity the team has to impact the quality of life.
