Children's Healthcare of Atlanta plays a unique and important role in providing health care to Georgia's kids.?As the state's only freestanding pediatric health system, we proudly serve patients from all 159 counties in Georgia. Yesterday morning at 7am, the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital opened and in under 10 hours, 65 ambulances transferred?over 200 patients into this new state-of-the-art hospital.?Children's mission began over 100 years ago, and this campus will serve as a leading pediatric hospital?by providing world-class?care, research, and training (771 residents?and fellows at Children's last year) for the next 100 years. We've had tremendous ongoing support from so many, including Office of Governor Brian P. Kemp , Speaker Jon Burns, Lt. Governor Burt Jones, members of the Georgia General Assembly, Rep. Buddy Carter and our congressional delegation, the Georgia Department of Community Health, Mayor John Park and the Brookhaven City Council, DeKalb County and Atlanta Mayor?Andre Dickens, and others. It was amazing to watch the hospital come to life as patients entered the building. I couldn't be prouder to be a part of the Children's team and I'm excited to see the incredible things that will take place here for many years to come.?
