DCH Chief Operating Officer Joseph Hood joined the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget in August for a tour of the St. Francis Graduate Medical Education (GME) program in Columbus, Georgia. This tour showcased renovations at the St. Francis Bradley Center Campus for GME residents’ formal education program. DCH’s State Office of Rural Health awarded $1 million in funding for the renovation through its Dual Track Rural Hospital Support program.

DCH’s Healthcare Facility Regulation Division recently hosted the national Association of Health Facility Survey Agencies (AHFSA) Annual Training Conference in Atlanta. The conference was held during National Health Care Surveyor Week and provided networking and educational sessions for state agencies that regulate healthcare facilities. Congratulations to HFRD’s Lisa Davies, who was also elected as the AHFSA board’s recording secretary.

Commissioner Russel Carlson recently joined Gov. Brian Kemp, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John King, and others in a roundtable discussion on the Patients First Act. Commissioner Carlson provided updates on Georgia Pathways to Coverage? including a new state awareness campaign and website (pathways.georgia.gov).
