My first full week of summer consisted of a giant leap into the world of broadcasting thanks to the National Radio Talent System and the Georgia Association of Broadcasters I spent the week absorbing knowledge from all sides of radio, hearing from CEOs, presidents, producers, radio personalities, and play-by-play commentators, many of whom reside in the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. While listening to the stories and advice of these trailblazers was an amazing opportunity, being able to introduce my self, shake hands and expand my network with these wonderful people was an invaluable experience I am grateful to have had. I was mentored and nurtured throughout the week by Erica Farber, the former President and CEO of the Radio Advertising Bureau, who told the story of her journey throughout the industry. Thanks as well to Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Georgia for allowing my time at the institute to be as wonderful as possible.

The moment you've been waiting for - the final day recap for the GAB Radio Talent Institute: ??Program Director and Content Strategist, WUGA, Martin Matheny shared the differences between public and commercial broadcasts. ??Doug Turnbull, PM Drive/Traffic Anchor for WSB Atlanta talked about how to report traffic on talk & news radio. ??We had some of our GAB grads Abby Jessen at WSB Cox Media Group and Madison Parker at 107.7 The Breeze, talk about their experiences going from being a college student to becoming a pro with Dr. Dale Van Cantfort. ??Don Anthony of Morning Mouth Magazine wrapped up our institute by sharing how to get a good job with our students. I spent the last week at UGA's Grady College hearing and learning from dozens of professionals in the radio and broadcast industries during the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Radio Talent Institute! Everyone who spoke with us shared invaluable information and experiences from their time in the industry. I'm extremely thankful for the opportunity to hear from them and use what I've learned to jumpstart my career. I also want to thank Erica Farber for overseeing the program and providing plenty of insight into her experience in the industry. I'm excited to move forward from here and to see where the rest of my talented classmates end up in the future!

This talented group took a huge step toward their career in media. Congratulations and Thank you Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Georgia and Georgia Association of Broadcasters and RAB. The future is bright and full of opportunity ??
