These last several days have been a whirlwind! I am deeply honored to have been inducted as a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) this past weekend, joining a remarkable group of interprofessional healthcare leaders committed to advancing equitable, patient-centered care. It was especially meaningful to have shared this moment with Georgetown University School of Nursing colleague, Dr. Elke Zschaebitz ! #hoyasaxa Service is at the heart of our profession, and I was grateful for the opportunity to put that value into action by volunteering at DC Central Kitchen alongside my NAP colleagues. Together, we helped prepare nutritious meals for children in Wards 5, 6, 7, & 8, reinforcing the collective impact in addressing food insecurity and community health. This weekend is a powerful reminder that leadership in healthcare extends beyond clinical practice - it’s about service, advocacy, and collaboration. I look forward to continuing this work with my fellow NAP Fellows and making a meaningful difference in our communities. #FNAP #Nurseleadership #Service

Our students and faculty partnered with the?MedStar Health Research Institute to revolutionize patient care through an interdisciplinary research project!?The research team is creating an AI model to inform psychiatric unit needs—staffing needs and bed availability—ensuring patients get the care they deserve. By taking into account both the needs of the patient and the demands on the hospital staff, they hope the model will improve care and reduce nurse burnout. https://lnkd.in/eCwFecUB
