Today at #COP29, BCSE showcased subnational and private sector solutions to achieve equity, #energyefficiency, and #cleanenergy goals at an official UNFCCC side event co-hosted by The Climate Registry, Georgetown Climate Center, and U.S. Green Building Council. ???? Chair Brenda Mallory of the White House Council on Environmental Quality offered opening remarks, providing a U.S. federal government perspective on public-private partnerships and actions that are driving clean energy deployment nationwide. ?? Public and private sector leaders must partner to implement scalable solutions for CO2 reduction, resilience, and health benefits in the built and natural environment. The “Investing, Deploying, and Implementation” Panel, moderated by Liz Beardsley, featured Rama Dunayevich, Olga Faktorovich Allen, Paul Lau, and Jessica Olson. These private sector leaders shared case studies of strategies that successfully engage communities and build on the momentum of federal policies and investments. ?? Achieving nationally-determined contributions requires subnational action across sectors while centering equity. The “Policy, Regulation, and Planning” Panel, moderated by Amy Holm, featured Samuel Assefa, Davina Hurt, Esq., Joseph Nguyen, and Brigid Shea. These state and local leaders from California, Texas, and Washington highlighted actions and policies that are driving clean energy investment in their communities. They discussed the challenge of addressing the immediate needs of their constituents while advancing essential climate action and shared strategies for fostering collaboration. ??
