After posting about GRIT, my mind wandered back to a personal experience during which I had to dig deeply to find my "True Grit" while bicycling solo - completely self-supported - down the Dalton Highway - the "Haul Road" - from Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks. I was invited to tell this seven minute story at "Arctic Entries" - a local version of "The Moth" storytelling event on NPR. I hope you enjoy listening to this tale as much as I enjoyed telling it. It's a story of survival, and how grit is all you have to draw upon when things are bad, and then get worse. Grit allowed things to eventually get better during this adventure. Finally, we are back out on Augustine Island to perform additional survey work to cover the additional geothermal lease we obtained earlier this year.

Effective April 1, the Alaska Department Of Natural Resources granted GeoAlaska LLC a geothermal prospecting permit (ADL 394374) covering 7,299 acres on Augustine Island. This acreage expands GeoAlaska's existing geothermal footprint at Augustine Island by 240%, encompassing the entire southern half of the island. GeoAlaska already had (ADL 394080), which involved 3,031 acres. The two permits total 10,830 acres. Picture: Outcrop on the southern shoreline of Augustine Island.
