Generation Unlimited is a global multi-sector partnership convened by the UN Secretary-General at the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in September 2018. Hosted by UNICEF, Generation Unlimited (GenU) works to ensure that the world’s 1.8 billion youth are connected to the internet, have access to world-class digital learning and skilling solutions and are economically empowered with employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. Generation Unlimited creates public-private partnerships – globally and in countries – to co-create and support investment opportunities, programmes and innovations at a large scale, and to help young people become productive in life. Our focus is on three strategic priorities: 1. Scale up online/remote learning, skilling, and livelihood platforms 2. Boost entrepreneurial skills and opportunities 3. Engage youth as changemakers

Young innovators create an artificial glacier to help with summer water shortages in Pakistan??? Glaciers are critical to life – their meltwater is essential for drinking water, agriculture, industry, clean energy production and healthy ecosystems.?Three youth from the Ghanche District in Gilgit Baltistan used long pipes to harness wastewater running through the mountains and successfully created a glacier to conserve natural water sources. “If water becomes depleted, the problem will not be confined solely to mountainous areas, but the entire world.” With their #SkillsRightNow and support from UNDP Pakistan, UNICEF Pakistan, Generation Unlimited, their idea turned into a sustainable solution???

At just 15, Alia Ossama from Egypt is a champion rhythmic gymnast, reaching for Olympic gold while working to empower young people through UNICEF Egypt Shabab Balad (Generation Unlimited Egypt). Beyond the mat, Alia is an advocate?for children with disabilities and pushing for more opportunities for girls and young women. “I would like to make sure that every young girl has the right to choose—whether to play sports or not, to study or not, to apply for a job or not, and so on. To truly have the right to choose our future, we must first have access to education, skills and opportunities.” Alia's inspired by how preceding generations of her mother and grandmothers remained resilient despite?facing significant challenges, particularly in areas such as education and employment. This drives her to push forward and shape?a future where every girl can reach her full potential. When girls have access to quality education, they gain more than just facts and figures.
