"How in my 29 years of nursing and midwifery have I never heard of FGS?" asks one stunned Ghanaian midwife. Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) – a painful, stigmatizing parasitic disease – afflicts 56 million women and girls across Africa. Yet it stays in the shadows. Newsflash: Even experienced healthcare providers don't recognize it. But something remarkable happened when local health workers were able to connect across borders. Across sub-Saharan Africa, 300+ community practitioners developed 213 actionable solutions for their communities. Training colleagues. Redesigning curricula. Building community awareness. These local champions need global support to scale what works. On March 8th, listen in these frontline heroes sharing their breakthroughs. Not theories. Not frameworks. Real solutions from real practitioners that deserve worldwide attention. The choice is clear: continue overlooking a crisis affecting millions, or amplify and support those closest to the problem. Because some health issues don't make headlines—but they reveal everything about whose health we actually prioritize.
