We’re thrilled to announce the opening of Las Palmas Apartments, a beautiful multifamily supportive housing development that provides 53 apartments to individuals in the Wilmington neighborhood in the City of Los Angeles. Las Palmas is an adaptive reuse project that utilized the existing building site, transforming it into dynamic housing. It will also feature a community room, open-air courtyard, and furnished apartments. Designed by KFA Architecture, Las Palmas is developed and co-owned by Brilliant Corners and The Richman Group. The Richman Group provides a full-time on-site property manager, and Brilliant Corners provides wrap-around supportive services to residents. We’re so grateful to our partners on this project: Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, Los Angeles Housing Department, Los Angeles County Development Authority, HACLA, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, CSH, the Source for Housing Solutions, Genesis LA, Bank of America, California Community Reinvestment Corporation. Thank you to Supervisor Janice Hahn who represents the Wilmington neighborhood, for celebrating this special occasion with us and providing a proclamation in honor of the site opening.

Community Vision and Genesis LA have been awarded a $425K grant from U.S. Bank to fuel the next phase of our California Community-Owned Real Estate (CalCORE) program! In 2021, we launched CalCORE, a multi-year, statewide program in partnership with Genesis LA. It is a testament to the value and importance of small businesses and community-based organizations. CalCORE empowers them to take control of commercial real estate, driving neighborhood stabilization and community wealth-building. Recently, FHLBank San Francisco hosted a collaborative session with our Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) members as part of our 2024 Member Conference. ??The session was marked by conversations between our CDFI members and Bank leadership, where we discussed how we can continue to strengthen our support for #AffordableHousing and #CommunityDevelopment. The shared energy led us to explore new ways the Bank can better serve our #CDFI members and empower the communities they work tirelessly to uplift. We and our members left with fresh ideas and renewed commitment to addressing the most pressing housing challenges. ???We are grateful for our members’ mutual dedication to building stronger, more vibrant communities and for the opportunity to work more closely with CDFI’s. Focusing on an impact investing cornerstone approach, this Impact In Action at #MissionInvest2024 highlighted inclusive investing by Genesis LA, one of Los Angeles' largest community development financial institutions. Program elements included learning about Genesis LA's investing approach and visiting an investee organization, Community Coalition, who is dedicated to community resilience and movement building. Last week, Century had the privilege of being part of the Clippers Community Summit at the Intuit Dome. Vice President of Construction Lending Tracey Burns joined a panel with colleagues from Genesis LA, the Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation, and the Inglewood Youth Education Fund, sharing insights on our Inglewood Home Assist Fund and other funding opportunities. With nearly 200 representatives from various community-based organizations and government agencies, the event was a great opportunity to connect and collaborate. Leaders from these eight incredible organizations: Center for Community Investment, City of Victoria BC, New Path Foundation O/A The Common Roof, Genesis LA, Jessie Ball duPont Fund, NEW (Nonprofit Enterprise at Work), W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and Ventura Partners. We are excited to announce our Watts Works project won the AIA LA Residential Honor Award for Architectural Design in the Affordable Housing category. ? This permanent supportive housing project provides 25 units for unhoused residents in Los Angeles. The design includes a spacious community room, long-term bicycle storage, outdoor dining, and a quiet zone with a tranquility garden. Huge thanks to our incredible team for their dedication in making this vision a reality. ? According to the AIA LA Jury, "Watts Works sets a new standard for affordable housing with its impressive modular design. The placement of pre-fab units is simple yet striking, demonstrating restraint and clever use of color and light. The straightforward approach results in well-proportioned courtyards and generously sized windows, creating a strong community connection. The staggered windows, elevated porch, and rooftop spaces balance privacy and community interaction.
