A milestone operation for our I-475 project in Flint, MI as our team completed the largest girder erection in C.A. Hull history! Establishing a staging area allowed our crews to assemble girders on the ground. Then, the girders were moved into place utilizing Holland Dollies Modular Transport from Talaski Building Movers and Crane Services. Once set, six beams totaling over 628 tons completed three of five segments for northbound I-475 over the Flint River. A heavy lift for our team, but through comprehensive planning, partner teamwork, and innovative engineering, the operation was completed safely and successfully.

Girder erection on the Northbound I-475 bridge over the Flint River in Flint, Michigan is complete! The girder erection work included complex crane operations to lift and erect the girder segments including a 277’ paired-girder segment weighing in at approximately 200 tons. Other stages included single-girder segments also 277ft long followed by end-span girder segments. The C.A. Hull included Black Swamp Steel Inc. and Talaski Building Movers and successfully completed the girder erection operation in several days. Genesis Structures performed the erection engineering for the project including crane operations planning, evaluation of girder segments and rigging design. Congratulations to CA Hull and the entire team on a job well done!

How do you move a 3 million pound, 588 ft long bridge sideways 40ft??SLOW AND STEADY!?Congratulations to Helm Civil for the lateral slide of the existing SB IL2 bridge over the Rock River in Rockton, IL.?Guided roller skates and 24” stroke hydraulic push jacks methodically moved the bridge to its new home.?Helm relocated the bridge to the median and now will use this existing bridge as a crane access trestle to facilitate construction of the new SB and NB bridge structures.?Genesis Structures assisted Helm with the design of the lateral slide system, girder erection plan and demolition plan for the project.? #Construction #ConstructionEngineering #Steel

Curved girder erection for the I-496 WB Ramp over Grand Trunk Western Railroad and CSX Railroad in Lansing, Michigan, is complete! Toebe Construction LLC completed the curved girder installation working around active railroad traffic using multiple cranes and temporary falsework structures. Genesis Structures performed girder erection engineering for the project.?The curved girder geometry, tight site conditions and active railroad conditions made this operation a challenging one. Congratulations to Toebe Construction on a job well done! #infrastructure? #constructionengineering? #steel #construction #structural

Great work by Clarkson Construction Company last week in making quick work of removing (2) 48’ precast Double-T girder spans (a dozen girders) within a single day. The team was able to get portions of the Colbern Rd. bridge in Lee’s Summit, MO lifted out while keeping the tracks below open to rail traffic. To mitigate potential debris falling onto the tracks below and prevent any outages to rail traffic, the girders (with intact deck panels) were lifted out via crane. Genesis Structures assisted Clarkson with demolition plans for spans over the railroad including existing structure evaluation, crane layout, design of lifting beams, and rigging details. Well done to all those involved with this project! #demolition #constructionengineering #cranes

Congratulations to the construction team on this project!?Genesis Structures enjoyed working with Anlaan Corporation planning the girder erection operations for the Kalamazoo River Bridge near Battle Creek.
Our I-94 joint venture project with Anlaan Corporation is featured in Michigan Contractor & Builder and includes insight into the project from Elias Motz, C.A. Hull Project Manager. “Utilizing pre-engineered temporary bridges required complex earth retention to be designed with temporary foundations to support the temporary bridges,” Motz said. “This concept ultimately allowed for I-94 bridges to be replaced full width rather than part width, which improves production and quality of the new structures.” https://lnkd.in/gyZ-6iKw
