I’m thrilled to share details about a recent PennDOT job we completed at the beginning of December for the Raccoon Creek Bridge No. 24 in Washington County, PA. This project involved a two (2) day comprehensive geotechnical investigation with six (6) sampling locations for a total of 154 linear feet. Despite facing a very snowy week, our dedicated team didn’t let the weather conditions slow us down. It’s a testament to our commitment: no matter what the weather throws at us, our guys will get the job done! We implemented Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) for all sampling locations, utilizing a PATA 116 – Temporary Bridge Closure. For drilling, we utilized our Acker XLS, which we love for its reliability, speed, and efficiency. We’re running projects like this every single day with 7 to 8 rigs in operation. Exciting Update from the Mannheim Substation Expansion Project! We recently completed 300 feet of drilling in just 5 days, which included 107 feet of Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) and 193 feet of NQ coring. Terracon utilized our industry-leading day-rate, allowing us to deliver high production while saving the client both time and money. The data we've collected from this project will play a crucial role in the expansion of the substation, enabling enhanced power reliability for over 2,100 customers and paving the way for new warehouses. Additionally, this project will create a backup power feed, ensuring that power remains uninterrupted even in the event of damaged wires or lines. Over the past year, we have successfully completed several projects at Philadelphia Airport, with many more scheduled for the future. I-64 WIDENING IN WEST VIRGINIA FROM 29TH STREET TO GUYANDOTTE BRIDGE ROADWAY We at NexTerra take great pride in the fact that we are playing a major role in enhancing the infrastructure of our great nation! It was all hands on deck this week at Memorial Lake Dam near Fort Indiantown Gap! The team is hard at work on a geotechnical investigation of the spillway. This project involves the use of a barge, HQ coring, well installation, and camera scoping of the holes in our 4" casing to assess the structure.
