关于我们
Generations United’s mission is to improve the lives of children, youth, and older adults through intergenerational collaboration, public policies and programs for the enduring benefit of all. For nearly three decades, Generations United has been the catalyst for policies and practices stimulating cooperation and collaboration among generations, evoking the vibrancy, energy and sheer productivity that result when people of all ages come together. We believe that we can only be successful in the face of our complex future if generational diversity is regarded as a national asset and fully leveraged.

Kinship and grandfamily caregivers step up when families need it most, providing stability and love for children facing challenges. But these caregivers often encounter unique hurdles—financial stress, legal complexities, and a lack of resources. The Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network with support from NASHP and The John A. Hartford Foundation, has created a resource guide?to help kin caregivers navigate these challenges. Learn more and share this guide with a caregiver in your community! The 2025-26 FAFSA? - the federal financial aid application for college - was officially released last week. We at the Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network have detailed directions to help students raised by kin complete this form. As with most things, the instructions for these students are different than for students being raised by parents. The great news - in most circumstances, only the students' income and assets are considered in determining aid! So, it's very important to fill out the application correctly because it can help ensure bright futures for these young adults. Please repost and widely share this resource with the kinship families you support - https://lnkd.in/eiGNQKjq #KinshipCare, #Grandfamilies, #FAFSA, #financialaid

November is #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth — a time to honor and celebrate those caring for their loved ones. It’s important to remember that caregivers come in many different forms and though traditionally we honor those caring for older adults and disabled individuals, we must also remember to honor the grandparents and other family members who step up to care for children whose parents are not in the home. Read our latest blog post to explore Generations United's resources that support #grandfamily and #kinship caregivers. https://buff.ly/4i6736v

“Kin-First” is a term that was first developed in 2017 at a convening led by the American Bar Association Center on Children and the Law, ChildFocus, and Generations United, and supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. “Kin-First” refers to “a child welfare system that consistently promotes kinship placement, helps children in foster care maintain connections with their family, and tailors services and supports for kinship foster families.” ?? For more information, visit https://lnkd.in/eb-femMa. ? For help implementing any of the steps, reach out for assistance at https://lnkd.in/eRDxcktz. The Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network is privileged to include staff - Ana Beltran and Jaia Lent - and a subject matter expert - Heidi Redlich Epstein - who led that original gathering and can help your agency. #KinshipCare, #Grandfamilies, #ChildWelfare, #NFCMonth
