Why is PRP for Infertility Considered an Experimental Therapy? What does that mean? Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is gaining attention as a potential fertility treatment. PRP involves injecting a concentrated mix of platelets (extracted from your blood) to stimulate healing and rejuvenation, including in ovarian tissue. While it shows promise, PRP is still labeled as “experimental” because large-scale data validating its effectiveness is lacking. Dr. Jesse Hade of Generation Next Fertility emphasizes that this designation isn’t permanent. “We are working on the first large, robust-scale study looking at platelet rich plasma therapy versus placebo." The goal? To determine whether PRP truly improves fertility outcomes. If successful, this research could make PRP a standard of care, paving the way for insurance coverage and wider accessibility. Ovarian PRP offers new hope to those navigating infertility, especially women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). By enrolling in groundbreaking studies like this, patients can directly contribute to advancing the field and potentially benefit from innovative treatments. How Soon Can You Try Again After Failed IVF? A failed IVF cycle or embryo transfer can feel devastating, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the next attempt will also fail. According to Dr. Serin Seckin, the timing for trying again often depends on the reason for the failure. “Usually, you can try with the next cycle,” she explains. "Hopefully, you’ll have time in that interim to review with your doctor what you could’ve done differently.” Regrouping with your doctor can be useful in cases of a failed embryo transfer as well to assess whether further testing, such as a hysteroscopy or other specialized procedures, might be necessary. If no additional testing is planned, you can often proceed directly into another embryo transfer cycle. This insight highlights the importance of communication and collaboration with your fertility specialist. By understanding potential adjustments and maintaining a hopeful outlook, you can feel better prepared for your next steps. From the "What if it Fails?" From Challenges to Success: Kelli’s Inspiring IVF Journey ??? In this inspiring episode of Heart to Heart, Dr. Janelle Luk welcomes Dr. Jesse Hade, Director of Third Party Reproduction at Generation Next Fertility, and former patient Kelli to share her extraordinary journey to motherhood. Navigating infertility can be one of life’s most emotionally and physically taxing experiences. For Kelli, her journey included low ovarian reserve, multiple IVF cycles, and even the heartbreak of miscarriage. But through persistence, innovative treatments like PRP therapy, and the support of the team at Generation Next Fertility, she is now 31 weeks pregnant! Kelli emphasizes that flexibility and trusting the process helped her overcome each hurdle. “Persistence was key. I didn’t know much about my reproductive health before starting, but I trusted my doctors and took things one step at a time.” Her journey also highlights how cutting-edge treatments like Luteal Phase Stimulation (LPS) and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) can improve outcomes, especially for patients with diminished ovarian reserve. Her story is a testament to how determination and evolving treatment strategies can turn challenges into success. We’re honored to have been part of her journey at Generation Next Fertility.
