They provide concise answers to questions from the field on industry hot topics & how they relate to NFPA Standards! ?? The recent Best of January edition in part addresses a key question: ???? ?????? ?????????????????????? ?????? ?????? ???????? ?????????????? ???????? ???? ???? ??????????????????? According to the 2025 edition of NFPA 13, the answer is YES. ? ?? Section 8.2.7.5.4 – When an air compressor serves as the dedicated air supply, it must be installed per NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), Article 430. ? Section 8.2.7.5.5 – The disconnecting means for an automatic air compressor cannot be a general-use switch or a cord-and-plug connection. ?? Also: Compressors must now be Listed for Fire Protection. One of the biggest updates coming your way is the 2025 edition of NFPA 13 & 2024 edition of NFPA 14. ?? Download & Print this Guide: ?? ?? https://lnkd.in/dYgU38B4 ?? ?? ?????????? ??????????????????: ?? Air Supplies (NFPA 13 2025 Edition): ?? Air compressors dedicated to sprinkler systems must now be listed for fire protection. ?? ?? Nitrogen Generators must now be sized to maintain 98% purity throughout the system at a minimum leakage rate of 1.5 psi (0.1 bar) per hour, or the NFPA 25 existing system allowable leak rate. ?? Supervisory Air for Standpipe Systems (NFPA 14 2024 Edition): ?? All Dry standpipe systems (including manual) must now be supervised with supervisory air. ?? Air supply systems need to restore pressure within 30 minutes. ?? Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors (NFPA 13 2025 Edition): ?? In new systems, an increased C value of 120 shall be permitted where a vapor corrosion inhibitor is provided! ?? ?? The data from both the 6-month and 12-month evaluations confirm the trend: ?? Compressed Air: Exhibited the highest corrosion rates, 5x more than 98% Nitrogen, and 34x more than VCIs ?? 98% Purity Nitrogen:?Significantly reduced corrosion compared to air, resulting in metal loss of just 1.1 mils per year. ?? VCIs:?Outperformed both compressed air and nitrogen, with a rate of just 0.16 mils per year, or 7x more effective than 98% Nitrogen.
