This is just so crazy to me. Just so we’re clear, this isn’t just about affirmative action. It goes WAY beyond just the admissions process. This is effectively banning our ability to come together as women, as people of color, to build community. You gotta wonder what are they so afraid of? ?? Let me give you a hint. Remember what Margaret Mead said? "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has.” https://lnkd.in/eGtV5y97

Reading these words from Harshini S. brings me right back to my own journey. That feeling of having the answer but staying quiet. That fear of not being "ready enough" to take that next opportunity, to launch my startup. I've been there. In fact, I still visit there often – and that's okay. The real magic happens when we start seeing our self-doubt not as a barrier, but as a sign that we're pushing our boundaries. Watching Harshini S. journey reminds me why I do what I do.
I know that feeling all too well – sitting in a meeting, the thought perfectly clear in my mind, but my voice stays quiet. I know the answer, but what if I'm wrong? Then someone else voices exactly what I was thinking, and I'm left sitting there, mentally kicking myself. Again. Recently, I opened up to my mentor Mina A. about this struggle, and her response hit home in a way I wasn't expecting. "That's been me my whole life!" she shared, and honestly, hearing those words from someone I look up to so much changed something in me. She told me, "The fear is actually paralyzing. And one day you'll realize that fear has a cost." It's funny how sometimes the simplest advice can be the most profound. Mina A. told me, "You don't have to change anything. You just need to see things from a different perspective so that you get yourself out of your own way." I've been turning these words over in my mind ever since. In my role at Genee, I'm experiencing this shift firsthand. Each day, I see women just like me finding their voice in a space where it's okay to be uncertain, to practice, to grow. Where we can work through those moments that make our hearts race – like speaking up in meetings or handling tough conversations – without the weight of judgment. What moves me most is watching this ripple effect of confidence. When one woman finds her voice, it empowers another to do the same. We're all on this journey together, learning that our fears don't have to hold us back – they can actually point us toward growth. To everyone else out there wrestling with similar doubts (because let's be real, we've all been there): your perspective matters. Your ideas deserve to be heard. And sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is simply show up as ourselves, imperfect and growing, but willing to try. Learn more about our mission at Genee!

Feeling unsure about how to approach conversations about pay? You're not alone. Talking about compensation can be daunting, but it’s a key part of building a sustainable career. Did you know that only 37% of women negotiate their salary? With annual compensation reviews often happening early in the year, now is the perfect time to prepare.
