?? The Robot That Teaches Itself Complex Movements! Researchers at Carnegie Mellon developed SWIFT (Soft-hand With In-hand Fast re-orienTation), which uses a unique approach: instead of relying on complex simulations or pre-programmed movements, the robot learns through real-world trial and error. Three key highlights: ? The robot uses soft, flexible fingers that can safely interact with objects - much like our own hands ? It learns without needing to know the pen's weight or balance beforehand ? The system achieved a 100% success rate across different pens and even managed to spin other objects like brushes and screwdrivers! Traditional robots often struggle with delicate, dynamic tasks. This research shows that soft robots can master complex movements through experimentation - just like humans do! Until now, creating high-quality simulated environments has been incredibly expensive and time-consuming. Game developers spend countless hours manually crafting environments, and simulation creators face similar challenges. Google Tackles Quantum Computing's Biggest Challenge Google's researchers dropped "AlphaQubit" - an AI model that tackles one of quantum computing's biggest challenges: error correction. Quantum computers are incredibly powerful but also very sensitive - even tiny disturbances can cause errors in their calculations. ? Think of it like trying to hear a whisper in a noisy room. Until now, catching and fixing these errors has been a major roadblock. AlphaQubit spots and decodes quantum errors better than any previous method. In testing, it achieved error rates of 2.9% - beating existing approaches and setting a new standard for accuracy.
