As San Antonio’s writing arts center, we provide a supportive home for readers and writers of all levels through our online and in-person workshops and literary community. We believe everyone has a story and writing that story is powerful. Our strategic vision is to teach 12,000 people how to bring their stories to life by 2022.

Join flutist Excy Guardado, poet Urayoán Noel, and hip-hop artist Marco Cervantes, alongside moderator Amalia Ortiz, for a Library of America event exploring the fusion of Latinx music and poetry. They will discuss how Latin American musical traditions inspire their work and share intimate performances. Marco Cervantes is an Associate Professor at UT San Antonio and a member of Third Root; Excy Guardado, a cultural educator from Honduras, advocates for Indigenous rights and environmental justice; Urayoán Noel, author of eight poetry books, directs graduate studies at NYU; and Amalia Ortiz, a Tejana spoken word performer and author, is a 2020 American Book Award recipient. This event is free and open to the public.
