Scarf welding - an overlooked way to extend the life of forging dies. Scarf welding is a repair method where worn sections of a die are cut away (scarfed) and replaced with fresh material (welded). This can extend tool life, reduce downtime, and lower costs compared to a new die. Not many people know about this specialized service, or that we offer it - but we do, and we do it well. #Forging #ForgeTooling #DieRepair #Welding

Last Friday, we had the opportunity to introduce local students to the world of manufacturing at the first annual Thumb STEMinistas Conference! The event showcased a variety of STEM careers to roughly 90 students from 10 local school districts. We were proud to be one of 13 hands-on workshops, where we taught students how to take precise measurements using digital calipers - a fundamental skill in manufacturing. We also had three of our incredible women leaders volunteer for the panel discussions where they shared their personal journeys and answered questions about STEM careers. Events like this help spark curiosity, build confidence, and connect students with real-world STEM applications. We’re proud to support the next generation of women in STEM and show them the exciting career paths that it has to offer. A huge thank-you the Upper Thumb MiStem Network for organizing the event, the Cass City High School for hosting, and all the students who brought their enthusiasm and curiosity! #ManufacturingCareers #STEM #WomenInSTEM

  • Congratulations to our technical blow molding team in Ubly, MI on the successful launch of a massive automotive OEM program on an accelerated timeline. The program consisted of 12 HVAC ducts, and production had to start ASAP to prevent interruptions on the OEM’s assembly line. The OEM supplied the tooling in three separate shipments. In record time, our team got each shipment up and running at full production within 2-3 weeks. The level of hustle and coordination it took to accomplish this is truly astonishing. A huge thank you to the entire team, and to the OEM for trusting us with such a critical program.

  • Big congratulations to our aluminum extrusion tooling team in Bad Axe, MI for earning their fourth consecutive safety milestone celebration! Every six months without lost time due to injury, we celebrate with a catered dinner. This time, it was a mouthwatering spread of comfort food—complete with all the fixings—from local favorite, Café 53. As of today, they’ve gone over two straight years without lost time. Incredible work, team!

Our team shared insights on career opportunities in manufacturing and HR - plus a few lucky students walked away with prizes! We also led a classroom session on International Business and Travel, giving students a glimpse into the global impact of manufacturing. Big thanks to our team members who attended and to North Huron Schools for hosting this great event! #ManufacturingCareers

  • After 41 years of dedicated service, John Bergman is officially retiring from our forge tooling company. John wore many hats over the years, ultimately settling into his final role as a Manufacturing Engineer. His impact on our team won’t be forgotten. As he steps into retirement, John plans to trade blueprints for travel plans and spend more time on his family’s hobby farm. Thank you, John, for 41 incredible years. Wishing you all the best in this next chapter! #ManufacturingCareers

From sweet treats to friendly competitions, our teams across the country found creative ways to celebrate this #ValentinesDay. One plant set up a popcorn bar loaded with mix-ins like Reese’s Pieces and M&Ms to sweeten the day. Another tested their trivia skills for a chance at a gift certificate to a local steakhouse (plus some chocolates for dessert!). And we know there was more love to go around! If your team did something special, drop a comment or a picture - we’d love to hear how you celebrated!

We’re excited to announce that Dave Jimpkoski has taken on the role of Group Plant Manager for our Forge Tooling division! Dave’s journey with Gemini Group began in 2012 when he became the very first intern in our corporate Manufacturing Internship Program - a program born from our founding principle of providing gainful employment for the communities in which we live and serve and developing the talent within them. To find promising candidates, co-owner Jeff Rochefort contacted a local tech center for recommendations.?Dave, being a standout graduate of their engineering program, was at the top of the list.?Since then, Dave has quickly risen through the ranks, holding key roles in engineering, production management, and operations management across our entire metal tooling division. Today, Dave continues to embody our founding principle. He’s passionate about inspiring the next generation of engineering and manufacturing leaders, regularly participating in high school career days and skilled trades events, and hosting plant tours for students and the community. He also serves on the Academic Advisory Board of Ferris State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Throughout his career, Dave has consistently shown initiative, integrity, and an unyielding passion for his work and community - and we’re confident he’ll continue to inspire and lead his team to even greater success in this new role. Congratulations, Dave, on this well-earned promotion! We look forward to the lasting impact you’ll have at Gemini Group and beyond. #ManufacturingCareers #SkilledTrades

Last week our profile extrusion company in Saltillo, Mexico, welcomed to group of elementary students into their facility for a plant tour. For the kids, it was a hands-on experience in safety and a glimpse into the world of manufacturing. For us, it was a day of fun, laughter, and inspiration from these bright young minds. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this day so meaningful for all involved! #ManufacturingCareers
