The future of mobility starts with a strong talent pipeline. ?? SEMCA Michigan Works!, in collaboration with GEM, is seeking proposals for a Technology Talent Study that will help shape a regional workforce roadmap for the advanced mobility industry. This study will focus on attracting, retaining, and developing talent to support the industry’s shift toward EVs, automation, and other future mobility advancements. Key focus areas: ?? Identifying workforce needs and talent gaps ?? Expanding pathways to careers in mobility ?? Developing strategies for long-term growth Proposals are due April 4. GEM is on the road sharing insights from the Future Mobility Technology Study (FMTS) with key economic development partners across the region. ?? This month, Bernard Swiecki met with teams at Ann Arbor SPARK and Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance to discuss how these findings can support business retention and expansion efforts and position the #Detroit Region as a hub for emerging mobility technologies. Collaboration is key to driving the #futureofmobility, and last week’s GEM Immersive Experience was proof of that. ? More than 70 community leaders, educators and industry peers came together for a dynamic learning session, tackling nine real-world challenges faced by community organizations in the #Detroit Region. Through hands-on collaboration, participants gained a deeper understanding of workforce barriers and worked toward actionable solutions to strengthen mobility access and engagement. ? “I wanted a fresh start—and this was my way in.” When Alexandria (Alex) Day moved to Detroit from Chicago, she knew she wanted to be part of the mobility industry but was unsure where to start. GEM’s free 10-week training program gave her the hands-on skills and knowledge needed to break into the EV space. Now an EVSE Technician at Vesco Oil Corp., Alex is part of the growing clean energy sector, working on EV infrastructure and helping shape the #futureofmobility. She leveraged her adaptability, troubleshooting and leadership skills to pivot into this new industry—proof that mobility is an open door for those willing to take the leap.
