I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed speaker panel for their invaluable contributions and making Northcourt Limited’s first New Nuclear Technologies’ Seminar a huge success! The event was specifically designed to enable discussions between the investment community, new nuclear technology developers and other key stakeholders. We aimed to facilitate a better understanding between these key parties and help to demystify investability in nuclear. From Northcourt’s perspective, we have examined the role of nuclear insurance as a critical enabler of private equity investment flow into new nuclear. By creating innovative ways of offering risk transfer solutions to both, the developers and investors, nuclear insurance adds an important layer of additional confidence and ability to invest. While in Dubai for #COP28UAE, I had the distinct pleasure of visiting the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) Hamriyah Independent Power Plant. We are proud to have co-developed and invested in the project which has reached full commercial operations earlier this year and is now the most efficient gas power plant operating in the Middle East and Africa, helping to reduce the #carbonintensity of power generated in Sharjah. ? By offering a significantly higher efficiency level than previous power generation assets installed in the emirate, the three GE Vernova 9HA.01 turbines are expected to help SEWA generate an additional 1.8 #gigawatts of power with up to 4 million fewer tons of carbon dioxide #emissions per annum when compared to generating the same amount of electricity with legacy technology. We are excited to announce that GE Vernova and the The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during #COP28 to increase access to finance for the development of energy projects for ICIEC Member Countries across the globe. Under the MoU, GE Vernova and ICIEC will explore suitable energy projects and transactions for the mobilization of ICIEC’s suite of insurance, co-insurance and reinsurance and other credit enhancement products. This MoU is a step forward in providing affordable, reliable and sustainable energy to the region through collaboration with the broader industry via public-private co-operation.
