Developing Purdue Engineers into Global Leaders
关于我们
GEARE is the top international program for engineers in America. We provide Purdue engineers the opportunity to have a holistic experience. Our brilliant engineers start with a series of educational events and seminars to equip them with the knowledge and skills that they need to tackle the challenges and capitalize on the opportunities posed by living in another country. GEARE students not only study abroad for a full semester but also work or research abroad. To WORK ABROAD and STUDY ABROAD truly shapes a unique, enriching college experience and crafts a set of skills that sets job candidates apart. Few students have had the opportunity to communicate with individuals from other cultures in such an immersive environment.

As we kick off the spring semester, we're excited to share the story of Joey Paresky, a senior in Environmental and Ecological Engineering, who spent time in Peru and Ecuador as part of his GEARE experience. Joey’s journey started with a internship in Peru, where he gained hands-on research experience. But the real highlight was living with a host family, immersing himself in local culture. He then took his adventure to Ecuador, where he spent a semester exploring the country. Despite the challenges—like pickpocketing and cultural adjustments—Joey found that GEARE prepared him to embrace the unexpected and adapt. His biggest advice? "Be open to everything, embrace the unexpected, and definitely live with a host family." Want to read more? The #GEARE Alumni Panel two weeks ago was a great success, and a lot of wisdom was shared regarding work abroad experiences, language acquisition, and the career impact that GEARE can provide. If you were unable to make it or are interested in learning more about the GEARE experience, you’re in luck! Our newest blog post is all about the people who have gone through the alumni experience, and the wisdoms that they have to share. Check it out below! https://lnkd.in/etyjtkXB Once again, many thanks to Samvit D., Riley Parshall, Apoorva Kalaskar, and Conleigh Byers for joining us and sharing your stories!

Earlier this November, the Purdue University GEARE Research Fair brought together students, faculty, and representatives to explore diverse research opportunities and global engineering experiences. Students engaged with Yang Xu (on behalf of Dr. Vaneet Aggarwal), Dr. Riley Barta, Associate Professor Somali Chaterji (pictured below), and SCALE and EURO representatives to learn about impactful projects in fields like Chemical, Aeronautical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering, as well as innovations in semiconductors. The fair helped GEARE students discover domestic research opportunities, highlighting how local collaborations can complement global experiences and build a well-rounded engineering skill set! It was a powerful reminder of how both global and domestic collaborations shape the next generation of engineering leaders. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible! #PurdueGEARE #GlobalResearch #EngineeringAdventures #FutureEngineers
