We develop mission critical solutions for those that lead, serve and protect the world we live in.
关于我们
At General Dynamics Mission Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, we develop mission critical C4ISR solutions across the land, sea, air, space and cyber domains, but that doesn’t tell our whole story. When downed pilots are isolated in enemy territory, our equipment gives them a lifeline to call home. When a student opens a textbook to learn about the universe, they’re looking at data and pictures sent using our technology. When the government needs to share crucial top-secret information, our products help them keep this information out of the wrong hands. When sailors need to locate underwater mines, our technology allows them to find explosives with unmanned underwater vehicles. Delivering C4ISR technology is what we do but we think why we do it is more important.

Laura Jhoana is a Senior Systems Engineer within GD Mission Systems Engineering Leadership Program (ELP), currently working out of Taunton, Massachusetts. She is a first-generation Mexican-American, born and raised in Southern California to parents from Moroléon, Mexico. She has been with the company for about two years. She initially joined the company as an intern in May 2022 working remotely out of Los Angeles, California while she was pursuing her master's at University of Southern California. While interning, she also made the list of WayUp's Top 100 interns in the country. After graduating Laura Jhoana moved across the country to join GD Mission Systems ELP. “Being part of the ELP has helped me enhance my technical and leadership skills,” said Laura. “I enjoy turning ideas into reality, so I find fulfillment in knowing that my efforts contribute to building something meaningful.” She joined SOMOS employee resource group as it started to form in 2023 and applied to take on leadership roles [Membership Lead and Taunton, MA Site Co-lead]. She is passionate about her heritage and culture and wanted to share more about it to others whether it's through stories, experiences, food, or language such as teaching someone a Spanish word or phrase. “Hispanics have a diverse cultural background that fosters creativity and adaptability, allowing us to approach problems with fresh ideas and solutions,” said Laura. “We are known as hard workers no matter the challenges we end up facing.” #LatinasInSTEM #HispanicHeritage #HispanicHeritageMonth

#ICYMI | Last Friday was #NationalManufacturingDay! Our approximately 2,300 General Dynamics Mission Systems manufacturing, quality and support teammates are a vital part of our organization who help fabricate the products, technologies and services that make a difference for those that lead, serve, and protect our nation. ?…Like Herty, a manufacturing employee with 50 years of service at General Dynamics Mission Systems! Herty came to Minnesota about 50 years ago from California. Her husband and her had small children and she needed a job to help her family get into a home. She applied to a handful of jobs in the Bloomington, Minnesota area and initially decided on the role here due to its convenience and get her family started. Nearly 50 years later, she laughs as she reminisces about her time here. “I don’t think I would have bet that I would have stayed this long, but the mission of the company, the ways I could help, and the people are what have made me stayed,” said Herty. She likes the challenge of solving problems as a team and being able to create new ideas on the manufacturing floor. “We had a couple of things come in unserviceable, but I found it fun that I could work together with others to create something new,” said the GD Mission Systems employee with half a century of service. Herty didn’t always think she would end up in manufacturing, but she really has enjoyed the culture, the environment, and the people she works with every day. “You work with engineers and technicians, and you all have ideas. When you combine all the ideas, and it works out… it’s really gratifying,” Herty explained with a chuckle. Recently the location celebrated Hertys’ impressive tenure with cake. Often, Herty finds some humor that some of the newer employees weren’t even born yet until years after she started in 1974. “I didn’t start thinking this would be a dream job, but 50 years later it became one …and I’m still here and it’s fun,” said the manufacturing lead with 50 years at General Dynamics Mission Systems.?

Recently, our General Dynamics Mission Systems Bluefin?-9 Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) was put to the test on the Navy’s world-class underwater confidence course. It successfully conducted detailed sonar surveys, displaying mission critical data to operators immediately after recovery. These ongoing collaborations are critical to the development and evolution of our UUVs in support of the Navy’s hybrid fleet, allowing sailors the opportunity to build confidence in the operation of unmanned platforms for tactical operations.
