Welcome to the WCS Community Antora Energy! Antora Energy is a California-based company specializing in thermal energy storage solutions aimed at decarbonizing industrial processes. Their innovative thermal batteries utilize renewable electricity to heat solid carbon blocks to extremely high temperatures, storing energy as heat. This stored heat can later be released to provide consistent, high-temperature heat or converted back into electricity using thermophotovoltaic (TPV) technology, making it suitable for various industrial applications that traditionally rely on fossil fuels. In February 2024, Antora Energy raised $150 million in a Series B funding round led by Decarbonization Partners, a collaboration between BlackRock and Temasek. This investment is intended to accelerate the production of their factory-made thermal batteries, enabling the company to meet the growing demand for zero-emissions energy solutions in the industrial sector. #GCxN alum Microgrid Labs Inc recently celebrated a milestone with the U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett (FHL) at their ribbon-cutting ceremony. FHL is now the only Department of Defense installation running a #microgridsystem fully powered by #renewableenergy. Microgrid Labs played a key role in designing and conceptualizing the #microgrid for the United States Army Reserve. Kudos to the team!
The U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett (FHL) celebrates with a ribbon cutting ceremony for being the only Department of Defense installation to implement a microgrid system entirely operating on renewable energy. FHL’s landmark achievement makes it the first renewable-only microgrid that operates using solar generation and battery storage without relying on carbon-based energy sources like diesel-generators. Microgrid Labs Inc team is proud to have supported United States Army Reserve and Lawrence National Labs with the initial design and conceptualization of this microgrid.
