Ameriprise Financial has decided to dump its $5.5 Billion position in USA properties operating as Lionston Investments to reinvest in the UK and Europe where returns are much better. While parts of CRE in the USA are doing reasonably well, the office component still struggles with the new element of this real estate cycle that it can't understand - shrinking demand in most markets. Steve Triolet told CoStar news: "The office market is seeing green shoots across multiple markets. I wouldn't call it bottom, but there are signs that things are turning the corner a little bit. I'm perplexed." While Houston remains strong as a US office market, most have not yet seen their bottoms.
