This week, the 50th anniversary of the #ArabHealth conference (soon to be WHX Dubai) wasn't just a celebration of the conference, it was a declaration: healthcare is transforming,?fast. GCI Health’s Kath Harrison and Areeba Hanif were on the ground and shared their key takeaways from the event. ?? Conversations around AI took center stage, powering everything from real-time genomics to personalized treatments. Leading pharma companies, hospitals and healthcare service providers are already on board, leveraging AI's power to unlock insights from massive datasets and understand the very core of how the human body works. Through so many of the sessions and booth talks the takeaway was clear – AI is here to stay, and if we don’t embrace it, we risk being left behind! ?? Amidst the strong focus on technology, a crucial theme emerged across many of the sessions, particularly at the Public Health Conference and that is one of humanity.?Arab Health underscored the vital role of community-led approaches, especially in tackling Neglected Tropical Diseases. During a panel discussion, Dr. Ebere Okereke’s, Chief Program Officer, RLM, poignant words resonated deeply with attendees: "The interesting thing about neglected tropical diseases is that it's less of the disease that is neglected, it's the communities who suffer from them that are neglected." This underscores the critical need for patient-centric care, building trust, involving communities and addressing social determinants of health to ensure we can reach the communities that need it most. ?? Digital health is also embracing this human-centric shift in so many ways. As esteemed panelists emphasized as part of a discussion that took place on the M42 booth, "digital health is not just about technology, it's about people." This focus on the human element is key to effective communication in this evolving landscape and to build trust in data handling and improving patient outcomes. ?? Finally, bridging the global-local divide remains a critical challenge. Connecting global advancements, technology and innovation with local realities is essential for empowering communities and ensuring equitable access to health worldwide. The transition of Arab Health to WHX Dubai signals a new era for healthcare in this region. It will be exciting to see how these themes shape the future of health across the UAE. Kath Harrison touched on some of this in her recent article in Middle East Health – linked here if you didn’t get a chance to read it.?https://lnkd.in/erevV4aS
