Tuesday, March 4 was a very special day at the 12th Annual State of the Girl Community Conversation. Held for the very first time at the AEP Ohio Foundation STEM Leadership Center on the Battelle Science and Innovation Campus, we discussed how exactly our girls are faring today, and what we can do looking ahead to ensure they have a space to help them reach their full potential. We were able to see how Girl Scouts has impacted Cadette Vivienne, who found where she belongs, Gold Award Girl Scout Sara, who spent over three years building an accessible trail in her community that will impact an entire generation, and Janica Pierce Tucker, Partner-in-Charge at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, who is a true example of success. Through her phenomenal keynote, Janica proved why she is a role model for young women everywhere. In turn, we can clearly see how they have impacted everyone around them with their courage, confidence, and character. Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland's own VP of Girl Experience Katie Poole also walked us through the amazing STEM programs being implemented for our Girl Scouts, and how this new STEM Center will provide girls with a space to learn and grow into leaders. Finally, our CEO and President Tammy Wharton and Board Chair Shakila Ali led us through an emotional conversation about the state of girls today, and unveiled the NEW Ohio: State of the Girl Report, a comprehensive look at how Ohio girls are doing today and what our role as a community is to ensure they have the tools and guidance they need to reach their full potential.
