Recently, Monica Williams, Oncology Financial Navigator from our Oncology Support Department, was recognized by Natalie Segers for her outstanding dedication and was selected as a Peer-to-Peer winner. ?? Monica received a call from a patient facing an unexpected copay of thousands of dollars for his medication. With only one business day to find a solution, Monica worked tirelessly that evening. She reviewed his benefits, obtained a grant, and ensured the pharmacy processed his medication STAT, preventing any gap in treatment. The medication arrived on Saturday before the patient ran out. When Natalie caught up with Monica the next morning, she was amazed at how efficiently and effectively Monica had resolved the issue. Throughout the process, Monica exuded kindness, humor, and a deeply authentic determination to care for the patients she serves at GBMC. Natalie feels lucky to work with Monica, and the patients are fortunate to have her on their team. Thank you, Monica, for being a true MVP and ensuring our patients receive the care they need!

Recently, Venus Oliver from our Environmental Services Department was recognized by Theresa Breitenbach for her outstanding dedication and was selected as a Peer-to-Peer winner. ?? Venus, an Environmental Services Associate, has just become the NICU's full-time environmental service agent. The unit has never looked so clean! She goes above and beyond to find every nook and cranny (even within our offices) to thoroughly clean, including even all the glass of our windows and doors, and the actual trash cans too. She is always in the most pleasant mood, speaking ever so sweetly to our families and staff. She always checks in with the staff to see if there is anything extra she can do for us. She has stated, "I just love to clean," and it shows in her work ethic and personality. Venus's dedication to maintaining extreme cleanliness in the unit leans towards better outcomes for our critical and smallest of patients. Venus seeks all the staff out by name, asking how they are doing and if she can do anything for them. Her smile and soft-spoken voice bring happiness and more smiles to those around her. She genuinely cares about the parents and staff she encounters. Thank you, Venus, for being a true MVP and making our NICU shine!
