A movement of businesses committed to ending the global education crisis.
关于我们
Today, more than 59 million primary school-age children around the world are out of school and at least 250 million children in this age group are not learning basic skills. Girls represent over half of the children who are not enrolled in school. An additional 69 million teenagers are not attending secondary school, missing out on vital basic skills needed for future employment The Global Business Coalition for Education (GBC-Education) brings the business community together to accelerate progress in delivering quality education for all of the world’s children and youth. We believe that education is the birthright of every child and the key to expanded opportunity and future employment. For companies, investing in education promotes economic growth, leads to more stable societies, fosters healthy communities and makes it easier to do business. Education spurs innovation and increases the skills of employees, the income potential of consumers and the prosperity of communities where business operates.

You walked, we delivered ? Last June, hundreds of Theirworld’s Global Business Coalition for Education supporters took part in #YourWalk, taking thousands of steps to raise vital funds for children in Ukraine. Now, as Ukraine marks the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion, we’re proud to share an incredible update: 500 laptops have been delivered to frontline schools and underground shelters, helping over 21,000 students continue their education. One of the students who will benefit is Ivan, who studies at an underground classroom near the frontlines. Before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ivan went to school every day without fear. Now he's forced to study in a makeshift underground shelter near the frontline, with the constant threat of attack. For students like Ivan, these laptops are more than just devices—they are a lifeline to learning. With access to a laptop, Ivan can now sit the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT)—a crucial step towards university and future careers. In Ivan’s own words: “Access to this laptop allows me to prepare for the test every day in a safe environment.” So from Ivan and everyone here at the Global Business Coalition for Education, we want to say a huge thank you. Through our partnership with Ukraine’s Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Olena Zelenska Foundation | Фундац?я Олени Зеленсько?, we’ve helped young people in Ukraine reclaim their right to education—one laptop at a time. #YourWalk #EducationForUkraine #SkillsForTheFuture #StandWithUkraine?#RebuildUkraine?#UnitedForUkraine

A huge thank you to all business, education and government leaders who joined us in Nairobi last week to discuss the youth skills and employment gap in East Africa and explore innovative programs and partnerships preparing the next generation for success ?? Discussions focused on defining the need for youth skills programs and how programs are making an impact on the ground, finishing with an activation session where leaders had the opportunity to make local-global connections and commit to one next step in supporting young people and helping to solve the #YouthSkillsCrisis. Thanks to Terryanne Chebet (MPRSK), PINK FOUNDRY AFRICA, and Bonney Tunya, Innovate UK Business Connect for moderating the discussion. The session ended with closing remarks from Justin van Fleet, highlighting how, through commitment, businesses can #UnlockBigChange, opportunity and investment for young people across the region. ?? Most ?? stat from this: ?? Globally, education ranks as the?second-largest sector for philanthropic giving. Yet only 4% of education philanthropy reaches primary education in low- and middle-income countries.
?? Want to go fast? Go alone. ?? Want to go far? Go together. I've always been a believer that #business and #philanthropy have so much more to contribute to global development and social impact than is realized. I've found the public sector has been slow to embrace new ways of thinking about partnership while business and philanthropy haven't invested in creating sustainable, scalable change. ? With government aid shrinking and pressures on domestic budgets, business and philanthropy *networks* could be the key to unlocking SDG4 in education - making a real systematic change in the world. But they require investment -- which as The Bridgespan Group has pointed out, network funding is lagging. ? Laura Savage of the International Education Funders Group (IEFG) and I with my Global Business Coalition for Education hat on break it down in Devex. ? ???Read more:?https://lnkd.in/eDy4KwJs ?
