More on the Government Blockchain Association Infrastructure event in DC. Taking place a couple blocks from The White House on the Wednesday and Thursday after the 2024 General Election, the venue, timing, and content made for a moment attendees won't soon forget. Sincere thanks to the venue, the sponsors, the speakers, the attendees, and most of all to Gerard Dache, Kathy D. and team for putting on what one panelist said was, "by far the best event I've been to for years!"
A few of many takeaways:
1. This is third time we have attended this event. The persistence and resilience of this community is something to admire. Collectively, they have methodically and strategically pushed blockchain technology into government operations at both the Federal and State levels. Identity, voting, licensing, fund administration, sewer and water, supply chain, healthcare, titling, farming & food - you name it, it came up. Better, faster, cheaper, more secure, more utility.
2. Post-Quantum Resilience. We've been carrying this message now for three-to-four years. The smartest cryptographers at MIT and elsewhere are working on version 4, 5, & 6 of deep cryptography - deep, deep, deep. Perhaps this work might actually save the world when mature Quantum computing gets in the hands of nation states bent on world domination. The GBA panel on the topic nailed it in 25 minutes. Good to see.
3. The people. It's always about the people. Rubbing shoulders with and listening to some of the savviest people in government sharing their experiences, and, surprisingly and stunningly, delivering jaw-dropping, motivational speeches on their respective domains - they deserved standing ovations! Elizabeth M. Tanner, Esq. - Rhode Island, Heather Leigh Flannery - #Healthcare, Amelia Gardner - Utah, Ebony Thompson - Baltimore, Prof. Dr. Ingrid Vasiliu-Feltes - Funding, Michelle Lopes Maldonado - Virginia, Steve Henley - #Blockchain Maturity Model, Dino Cataldo Dell'Accio - The United Nations, David Beck - The Space Force, Anthony Howell - Bermuda, Alexander Mann - AgriTech Corp., J ?????? - DoD, just to name a few.
4. And of course, the scooter ride across DC, backpack in place, with Bryant D Nielson, author of "Tectonic Shifts" and other books, plus one of the original influences behind the GBA itself. Next time we'll wear a GoPro! What a night.
GBA events are literally like drinking from a fire-hydrant. We sincerely hope to draw 5-10 people from the State of Ohio to the next GBA event in May 2025, The Future of Money, Governance, and the Law. They won't be disappointed.
PS. Here's the vidcast we recorded at the end.
