A huge thank you to all who attended our memorial service for Jorge Coelho, our long-standing Restaurant Director and true Gaucho legend who tragically passed a few weeks ago. His tongue-in-cheek blue plaque at the restaurant’s entrance will be a permanent reminder of his legacy, sense of fun and embodiment of the 100% hospitality the Gaucho brand represents. Jorge, you will always be in our hearts.

On Saturday we birthed a whole new brand - Gaucho Rugby - bringing our signature steaks to The View at Richmond College, in the shadow of the Allianz Stadium, Twickhenham. Our 280 guests heard from 2003 World Cup winner Neil Back MBE and three-time Grand Slam champion Serge Betsen for the pre-match roundup, expertly hosted by Ian Stafford of The Sporting Club A partnership with Bang & Olufsen secured the sound, with the outstanding look and feel provided by Sean Mortlock and THE PRINT TOWN LIMITED. It contributed to a record day for a Rare Restaurants rugby event and helped spur on an England win in Le Crunch. Roll on England vs Scotland on 22nd Feb. The memorial service for Gaucho legend Jorge Coelho will take place at Gaucho Richmond from 12pm-3pm on Monday, 17th February. Everyone whose lives Jorge touched - both in the hospitality community and out - are invited to attend and pay their respects. It is with great sadness that Rare Restaurants shares the news that Jorge Coelho, Restaurant Director at Gaucho Richmond and The Crane Tap, passed away yesterday after suddenly falling ill at the end of last week. Jorge was surrounded by his family in hospital when he passed on Sunday evening. The senior Rare team have been in constant contact with Jorge’s family over the weekend and we will continue to respect their wishes for space as we all come to terms with this news. There will be a time to celebrate Jorge’s life and the many ways he so positively impacted us - but for now we take a moment to remember a wonderful man who offered so much to the Richmond community and Rare Restaurants as a whole. Congratulations to our Good to Great leaders who completed their senior leadership course this week. We devised the Good to Great leadership course as wanted to up skill our senior leaders, increase their networks, introduce them to some great hospitality speakers and give them the tools to elevate their careers in the future. We were delighted to partner up with Madeleine Geach to deliver a bespoke programme of engaging workshops and 1-2-1 coaching sessions. We also featured some amazing guest speakers including Sally Anne Smith ??who delivered a great charisma masterclass, Marianne O'Connor who gave a personal branding session and finally Karen Davies MSc who delivered a brilliant project presentation workshop. Thanks to all involved in Good to Great and a huge well done to the candidates who graduated this week by presenting their final projects to the Directors.
