It’s no secret that Wisconsin is a swing state. The media coverage, the yard signs, the text messages are everywhere, all the time. If you need a break from all the noise, we invite you to go for a walk at Gathering Ground. It’s beautiful and quiet, but be warned it’s not your typical scenic beauty. The plants in the community and wildflower gardens brown and falling over in chaotic patterns. The orchard trees are in various stages of leaf-fall. The grass is trampled by wildlife who have left behind signs of their voracious appetites with a lot of…umm…fertilizer. But all the same, it is beautiful. This stage of desiccation and falling back to the earth is necessary for the renewal that comes in the spring. Nothing is wasted in nature. And on our biodiverse farm, we follow that same pattern. With our minds on the spring and the hope of new growth, we are excited to announce that a friend of Gathering Ground has pledged $5,000 match!
