By inspiring and directing the resources of our golfing community, we will positively impact the lives of youth, military, and diverse populations by enabling access to PGA Professionals, PGA Sections and the game of golf. ? Make the game of golf accessible to youth of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds ? Keep at-risk youth in school by helping to enable academic and post-secondary opportunities through programs and initiatives tied to the game of golf ? Improve military veterans’ quality of life by enhancing their physical, mental, social and emotional well being ? Establish a network of diverse talent who are able to ascend to key employment positions in the golf industry ? This week I was given the opportunity to speak twice on a topic that adds value to people and is something that I work on improving every day, communicating and connecting with others. My latest read, Everyone Communicates, Few Connect by John Maxwell, has been a game changer for upgrading my communication skills. Here are some takeaways that helped me connect with people through work, business, and personal life: 1. Find common ground 2. Show interest in people 3. Create an experience others can enjoy If you seek to build stronger relationships, you must remain curious, find common ground, and show a genuine interest in other people. Ultimately, “people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care,” and the best way to show people that you care is to be intentional about the ways in which you add value to them. Here are some questions to think about: - Are you communicating just to be heard or are you communicating to learn and add value? - What qualities do you observe in good communicators and how can you implement those into your communication? - What questions can you ask the next time you speak with someone one-on-one to make the experience more enjoyable? #communicationiskey #letsconnect #improvingeveryday
