Today Gateway HorseWorks - represented by Executive Director Kristen de Marco and Board President Basil Joy - was honored to be one of ten Philadelphia Area nonprofits to receive the GSK IMPACT Award. The IMPACT Award evaluates organizations across Innovation, Measurement, Partnered, Accountable, Community-Centered, and Transformative. We know this award of $50,000 will go a long way in increasing access to the incorporation of horses in the mental health treatment of people for so many children, youth, and adults in our communities.

Thank you to the CHESTER COUNTY BAR FOUNDATION (CCBF) for the ongoing support and belief in our mission. CCBF’s commitment to the success, growth, and sustainability of the Stable Pathways program over the years has enabled us to serve over 75 justice-involved people per year at the Chester County Pre-Release Center. We are honored to be among the many organizations that this incredible community-oriented foundation supports.

It is with excitement and joy that we share some good news with you! For the last two years, we have been piloting a social-emotional learning program, “Leading the Way,” in the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) here at the farm in Malvern, and the results have been impressive. Because of this, our program has attracted the attention of the leadership in the School District of Philadelphia at the highest level. This school year, we will expand this program to work onsite at Fox Chase Farm—an urban agricultural school operated by the District near Elkins Park—aimed at increasing access to students inside Philadelphia. Thanks to the generosity of the Neubauer Family Foundation, the Anderson Family Foundation, the Germeshausen Foundation, and the Foxwynd Foundation, we will serve 12 schools by next May! And this is only the beginning of our partnership—to provide innovative learning and mental health tools to more young people in Philadelphia.
