As we transition into fall, deer are more active, especially during dawn and dusk. With that in mind, it’s important to be extra vigilant on the roads throughout the season.
Here are some tips to keep you safe:
1?? Drive slowly, and stay alert. Reduce your speed, especially in rural and wooded areas.
2?? Always scan the shoulders for deer. At night, watch for the reflection of deer eyes in your headlights.
3?? If driving at dawn or dusk, use your high beams when appropriate to increase visibility.
4?? It may be tempting, but try to avoid swerving. If a deer appears, it's much safer to immediately brake and hit the deer than to swerve and risk a more serious accident.
5?? Keep an eye out for more deer. Where there’s one, there are usually more.
