I just sent a client key forensic collection and scoping info from a call we had 8 years ago. Checklist documentation FTW! Here’s how I did it… After a few stressful forensic collections (both remote and onsite), I read "The Checklist Manifesto," by Atul Gawande. It changed everything. In one week, I started doing pre-calls for all my projects and made a simple form to keep track of important details—client hardware & software, equipment needed, data sources in scope, and timelines. But the call wasn’t just about information. It let everyone meet each other before the collection, so we weren’t strangers when it happened. Without trust, things fall apart fast. After the call, I shared the form with the attorneys, project managers, and forensic teams. Everyone agreed on the details upfront. Double-Super-Extra Bonus: The checklist keeps everything organized and in one place—even when teams change, companies merge, or people leave. It’s just a document, but I love it!
