Our President Casey Case delivered a presentation, and the students got hands-on with a mini tree assessment. How kindergarteners?design a park? Awfully well, say Gates + Associates colleagues leading our brainstorm 'charrette' at Ms Tucker's Washburn Elementary class in Town of Windsor. The assignment:?Reimagine David Smith Memorial Park (former Pleasant Oak Park) that's?next?door to the school. Kids learned how things are planned, in this case a formal #MasterPlan. Gates learned?too: Swings are still VERY popular. And lots of color...but crayons may be hard to replicate.

Gates + Associates is fortunate to be teamed up to redesign/refresh West Valley - Mission Community College District for their Learning Resource Center. The school said it best: “LRC’s ‘greenest’ feature is it’s being renovated not scraped. Calif is leading in sustainability by reusing (& improving) instead of tearing down.” Some 7800 students at the school will enjoy a new improved learning-focused facility by late 2025. Come hang out with us for Park(ing) Day on Friday September 20th! "Park(ing) day is a global, public, participatory project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into public parks and social spaces to advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people." We are transforming two parking spaces in front of Caffe La Scala in Walnut Creek and asking the community their thoughts on reimagining street parking in downtown.
