  • WHY BLUE? ?? Wearing blue for colon cancer awareness is more than just a symbolic gesture—it’s a way to unite communities, honor patients and survivors, and emphasize the importance of early detection and prevention. (Seen here are members of GANJ's administrative team: Jill M., Teresa M., Morgan V, and Tara S.) ?? Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when caught early, yet it remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. ?? By wearing blue, you help amplify awareness about the importance of getting screened. We suggest a colonoscopy because it is the gold standard to detect cancer in its early stages or even prevent it by identifying precancerous polyps. ?? Your support also contributes to breaking the stigma around discussing digestive health and encourages more people to prioritize their screenings. ??? If you or someone you know is age 45+, it's time to act. To set up an initial consolation with one of GANJ's leading gastroenterologists, call today 888-452-0022 or visit our website, ganjllc.com ?? #coloncancerawareness #wearblue #getscreened #coloncancerawarenessmonth

  • There was a time in the not too distance past, when Presidents' Day, as we know it today, did not exist. Instead, many of us may have recollections of getting off from school on Lincoln's birthday (Feb 12) and a week later for Washington's birthday (Feb 22). If you do recall this time, your most likely in the age range for regular colon cancer screenings, 45+. (Note: high risk individuals including those with a family history of cancer might require earlier and more frequent screenings.) ganjllc.com / 888.452.0022 On this Presidents' Day 2025, let us remember all those who served our nation in this leadership role. #presidentsday2025 #uspresidents #america #wellness #family #coloncancer #colonoscopy

  • Health journalist Lara Vukelich recently wrote: "Talking about bowel movements can be embarrassing. If you think something is 'off' with your routine, you may not feel comfortable comparing your schedule for number two with friends. Yet, how often we poop, how long it takes to do it and what our stool looks like can actually reveal a lot about our health. We talked with three gastroenterologists about how often you should have bowel movements, and more, to help you understand what's normal." One of the GI specialists Lara reached out to was GANJ's own Natasha Chhabra, MD. • On this Valentine's Day, share this message with those you love. ???? ?? ?? ?? February is National Cancer Prevention Month, let's join hands in the pivotal fight against cancer, shining a spotlight on gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. These malignancies, affecting the digestive system, encompass cancers of the esophagus, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, stomach, small intestine, bowel (large intestine or colon and rectum), and anus. ???? ?? ?? ?? Did You Know? ?? GI cancers rank among the most prevalent and lethal cancers globally. ?? The key to combating these cancers lies in early detection, which drastically boosts survival chances. Despite this, awareness and screening rates for many GI cancers are critically low. ?? Lifestyle choices, including diet, physical activity, and steering clear of tobacco, are instrumental in prevention. ???? ?? ?? ?? Symptoms to Keep an Eye On: ?? Unexplained weight loss ?? Persistent abdominal pain or discomfort ?? Changes in bowel habits ?? Presence of blood in the stool ?? Jaundice (a yellowish tint to the skin and eyes) Taking Proactive Steps: ?? Regular screenings are crucial, more so if your family history includes cancer or you have other risk factors. ?? Embrace a healthy lifestyle to minimize your cancer risk. ?? Lend your support to cancer research and awareness efforts. For those looking to take a proactive step towards their health, we encourage scheduling a consultation with one of our board-certified gastroenterologists. • Dr. Haleh Pazwash recognized early in her career the importance of networking with peers and collaborating with experienced colleagues. She has been a member of the NYSGE since 2000. “I have been a proud member of NYSGE since my fellowship and it has been a great resource to me over the years,” she said. “It has served as a platform to view new technologies and to review clinical decisions.” Dr. Pazwash was recently elected to the NYSGE council. “Now coming full circle,” she added, “I have the privilege to give back to the society and promote private practice for fellows coming out of training.” According to nysge.com, The New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (NYSGE) “was founded in 1974 with the goal of developing a New York working group of friends to teach each other and disseminate their collective knowledge of gastrointestinal endoscopy.” It is the largest regional endoscopic society in the United States, with 300 attending members and over 200 fellows. Dr. Pazwash sees patients at GANJ's Ridgewood office at 1124 East Ridgewood Avenue in Bergen County; Tel: (201) 523-4141. ganjllc.com / 888.452.0022 #ridgewoodnj #nysge #physicians #doctors
