The Gastric Cancer Foundation has just published its first comprehensive Impact Report. The report highlights our efforts to accelerate research innovation and provide resources to support patients and families. We encourage you to take a look to see what we’ve accomplished together and consider contributing to our vital work. Together, we will defeat gastric cancer.
关于我们
Through education, research and advocacy, Gastric Cancer Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by stomach cancer and to working with leading researchers to find a cure. The Gastric Cancer Foundation launched the first Gastric Cancer Registry in 2011, a secure HIPAA compliant database at Stanford Cancer Institute. Aggressive gastric cancer research requires this resource of statistically significant, pertinent information about patients and their families. We are committed to fulfilling our mission through: Research: We fund cutting edge research in stomach cancer. We started the first national Gastric Cancer Registry, a data bank of information and tissue samples to support intensified research and advance understanding of the disease. Registry data is fueling research that will lead to new strategies to diagnose, treat, and defeat stomach cancer. To learn more about our research projects and the first Gastric Cancer Registry please visit: www.gastriccancer.org/focus-on-research. Education: We serve as a comprehensive resource for anyone with stomach cancer, their family, friends or caregivers – after a new diagnosis, during treatment and post-treatment. Our website provides a central resource of information to teach people about the disease, treatment options, and how to move forward. To learn more, visit: www.gastriccancer.org/about-gastric-cancer. Advocacy and community: We connect patients and caregivers to a supportive community of people who have experienced similar struggles and can provide hope and encouragement. We strive to increase awareness of stomach cancer through ongoing outreach and communications activities, and a growing number of events held across the United States. We partner with other cancer organizations to increase the collective focus on all types of cancer research, and on stomach cancer in particular. Connect with us and make a difference. Stomach cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, yet it receives less than one-half of one percent (0.4%) of US federal cancer research funding. Your generosity will fuel research and provide people with stomach cancer the information, support, and hope they need to navigate their journey. When we launched the Gastric Cancer Registry at Stanford University in 2011, we hoped the patient samples housed there would enable early-stage research to lead to new cures. The registry’s primary investigator, Hanlee Ji, MD, has long believed that data generated from gastric tumor samples could help attract large grants to turn insights into potential therapies—and now he has a major award to demonstrate the value of that model.
