Days ago, Hurricane Helene’s devastating path carved its way through Georgia and the broader Southeast region. When natural disasters strike, communities are left to pick up the pieces. CDFIs play a vital role in helping these communities not just rebuild but become more resilient to future challenges. In the days, weeks, and months to come, CDFIs will be on the front line of recovery efforts - providing immediate financial assistance to individuals and small businesses struggling to recover and offering flexible loans and grants tailored to the unique needs of disaster-stricken communities. Last week, the US Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) announced its latest round of funding. Among those awardees were seven Georgia-based organizations whose collective awards totaled $7,310,000. In a week filled with so much sadness and hurt, it’s nice to have a reason to celebrate the incredible work that CDFIs do for communities across Georgia. 关于我们
The Georgia Social Impact Map is an initiative of the Georgia Social Impact Collaborative (GSIC), which was formed by a group of community leaders committed to developing a stronger ecosystem of impact investing in Georgia. By bringing together our region’s leaders, representing all sectors of our social fabric, we envision an energetic and dynamic network that raises up our social impact ecosystem. In order to unlock our region’s resources and develop networks of collaboration, GSIC built a comprehensive map of our resources, relationships, and gaps to create a dynamic tool for anyone seeking to engage in impact investing in Georgia: -Identify the region’s resources, gaps and key players engaged in or interested in social impact; -Communicate and connect businesses and investors to nonprofits and social entrepreneurs; -Educate all interested parties on impact investing; -Expand and Cultivate the pipeline of investable opportunities for all types of investors; -Accelerate the deployment of capital from private sector, philanthropic and public sources; -Live On to serve as a dynamic and iterative community resource that connects capital to causes.

The lack of access to safe, quality, transit-oriented, and affordable housing is a pressing issue in many communities across Georgia. Impact investors can play a crucial role in addressing this challenge by providing capital for projects that create or preserve affordable housing units. HouseATL is a collective action group advancing critical affordable housing solutions, and they want your input! If you have thoughts or insights to share on affordable housing, please take 5-10 minutes to complete this survey.
If you are someone who cares deeply about equity in our region, your insights are valuable in making our communities better for everyone. We invite you to participate in a short survey to better understand how leaders across metro Atlanta think and communicate about affordable housing. We’re gathering information on which messages most resonate in the public and private sector and across the political spectrum. Our goal is for these messages to help us work more effectively in building lasting partnerships that create more housing options in our neighborhoods. The survey has both yes or no and open-ended questions; it shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes. Thank you in advance for your time and feedback.Survey Link:

This week, family-serving philanthropies - including family foundations, DAFs, family offices, and community foundations - from across the state, regional, and country journeyed to Atlanta for the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP) conference. Georgia’s capital city hosted a three-day convening, bringing new ideas, practices, and models to these philanthropic leaders. It was exciting to see impact investing among these topics! We know that some of Georgia’s leading impact investors are family foundations. On Wednesday, GSIC hosted a happy hour for these leaders to be in community with one another. It was thrilling to hear updates on how impact investing is growing across the state from Atlanta to Macon to Columbus to Thomasville to Savannah and beyond. Many thanks to our friends from Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Williams Family Foundation, The Sapelo Foundation, Bradley-Turner Foundation, Community Foundation of Central Georgia, R. Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta for joining us! GSIC is excited to grow our support for these practitioners and their community capital ecosystems. If you’re a Georgia foundation interested in exploring or growing your impact investing practice, please reach out!
