Thrilled to have had the opportunity alongside fellow Acterra Student Ambassadors to have worked the land at Garden To Table Silicon Valley planting sweet potatoes, while learning from experts about the most climate-friendly and delicious crops to grow in the Bay Area. So important to know how we can be more sustainable and efficient in our food practices. ????????

Acterra recently partnered with Garden To Table Silicon Valley to host a field trip for a 6th-grade class from ACE Charter School in San José that focused on climate awareness and sustainable agriculture! ??? Students engaged in interactive activities, including a bingo game on climate change and a matching game exploring mitigation vs. adaptation strategies. Beyond the games, students had the opportunity to participate in hands-on farm tasks alongside the Garden to Table team—feeding chickens ??, sifting compost ??, going on a flower scavenger hunt ??, and touring the garden. One especially memorable moment? A student fearlessly picked up a handful of worms after discovering that the "dirt" was actually nutrient-rich worm castings! Here’s a look back at an inspiring day with our Youth Be the Change program! ???? As part of a special field trip organized for students of Ocala STEAM Academy, kids dove into hands-on learning, exploring the connections between our food systems, animals, and plants for a sustainable future. From feeding and holding chickens to getting their hands in the soil, they learned how composting, worms, and natural fertilizers keep gardens thriving ?? Climate Bingo and Adaptation vs. Mitigation games helped them unpack the carbon cycle and climate-friendly habits they can bring home. Our interns and new grads recently celebrated Earth Day by spending an afternoon at the Garden to Table Silicon Valley farm, where they planted cucumbers, propagated plants, and fed the chickens.
